Emi Martinez and Marcus Rashford react to Morgan Rogers’ message to Aston Villa fans

Morgan Rogers had an upbeat message for Aston Villa supporters despite speculation continuing to swirl around his future at the club.

Aston Villa boosted their hopes of securing a Champions League place with a narrow 1-0 win over Bournemouth, thanks to Ollie Watkins’ decisive goal.

Rogers was instrumental in the victory, producing a standout performance and delivering a pinpoint cross that set up Watkins for a deft finish – another reminder of his growing influence in Unai Emery’s side.

However, his impressive form has not gone unnoticed. Despite playing a key role in Villa’s push for a top-four finish, questions remain over his long-term future at the club.

Former Villa CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Aston Villa could sell Rogers for a fee potentially reaching nine figures, should the club be forced to raise funds to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Football Insider revealed on 6 May that Emery is desperate to keep hold of Rogers but amid financial pressures, Villa may have to consider an unpopular sale if other options to balance the books fall short.

Still, he appeared focused and in good spirits after the Bournemouth win, sharing a positive message to fans in the wake of the result.

Man City and Chelsea weighing up summer move for Morgan Rogers

Despite ongoing speculation over his future, Rogers kept things light-hearted on Instagram with a short message that read: “Business!” accompanied by an emoji, a nod to the assist he picked up in Aston Villa’s recent win.

The post sparked plenty of reactions from fellow players. Boubacar Kamara commented, “My son” while Lucas Digne dropped a fire emoji. Marcus Rashford, Emi Martinez and John McGinn were also among those who liked the post.

His strong form this season has turned heads, with Football Insider revealing Man City are showing interest in bringing Rogers back to the Etihad. The Englishman initially left City in search of regular first-team football, moving to Middlesbrough before shining since his arrival at Villa Park.

But City are not the only club keeping tabs. Chelsea are also said to be in the mix, with some Chelsea fans calling on the club to push for Rogers’ signature in the upcoming transfer window.

Aston Villa uncertain over Marco Asensio’s permanent future

Marco Asensio may also be heading for the exit despite a promising start to his loan spell.

While the Spaniard has shown flashes of quality, Football Insider revealed on 1 May that Aston Villa are not convinced about signing Asensio permanently given the costs involved in a potential deal.

If Emery’s side miss out on a Champions League place, the club’s budget may tighten, particularly with PSR rules to consider. Asensio has only completed 90 minutes once in his 18 appearances so far, raising questions about his long-term role at Villa Park.
