Emil Bohinen’s transfer stance revealed as Rangers launch offer for January switch
Emil Bohinen’s cards are now on the table as Rangers chase a January deal.
The Gers are desperately trying to fight their way into the Premiership title race, and January additions will be a big part of their bid to reel in Hearts at the top of the table.
Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Rangers will look to add a striker and a midfielder to their ranks in the winter window, and Bohinen fills the second part of that criteria.
Danny Rohl and Co. have outlined the Norwegian as an ideal candidate to add to the group this month, and the player’s intentions for the window have now been revealed.

Emil Bohinen stance provides greenlight for Rangers
Rangers have already made a proposal to Bohinen at the start of the January window, and his own intentions appear to be conducive towards a move to Ibrox.
The Genoa man is currently out on loan with Venezia in Serie B, where he has made just one start so far in 2025-26.
Rangers have put themselves forward as a potential suitor for the centre-midfielder in January, but they also face competition from Spezia, with his current loan deal set to be terminated.
Despite the interest from elsewhere in Serie B, Bohinen is understood to have “expressed his intention” to move to a different country for the next step of his career, according to Tutto Venezia.
That looks set to play perfectly into the hands of Rangers, who would be able to provide the 26-year-old with the opportunity to play in the UK for the first time in his career.
Emil Bohinen deal to seal Joe Rothwell departure
Football Insider revealed earlier in December that Joe Rothwell is keen to leave Rangers in January, as he remains firmly on the periphery of the squad under Rohl.
The Glasgow giants are also keen to move the Englishman out of the door, and a move for Bohinen would surely seal and rubber-stamp Rothwell’s exit.
The 30-year-old simply hasn’t had the desired effect in Govan since his arrival from Bournemouth in the summer, and its already clear that it is best for all parties if they part ways at the earliest opportunity.
There is interest from the English Championship in the former Leeds United loanee, and as a result, it should be a fairly straightforward move for Rangers to facilitate.
Bohinen could be the ideal replacement for Rothwell, and it would be no surprise to see Rangers’ interest in him progress in the coming weeks.
