Emile Smith Rowe, Calvin Bassey react to Ryan Sessegnon announcement at Fulham
Emile Smith Rowe and Calvin Bassey reacted to an announcement on social media concerning Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon.
The Whites are in a race with Bournemouth, Brighton, and Brentford to claim a spot in one of next year’s European competitions.
Tottenham target Marco Silva‘s side seemed in with a chance of top-six qualification for much of the season, but a series of disappointing results has seen hopes of Champions League qualification dissipate quickly.
Having lost three of their previous four, with a 3-2 win over Liverpool the only points gained during that run, Fulham travelled to St Mary’s for what appeared to be an easy fixture.
However, the Cottagers made hard work of things and looked to be on their way to yet more dropped points with the scores tied at 1-1 going into added time.
That was when Sessegnon popped up at the back post and nodded home, keeping his side in contention for Europa League football and earning Fulham all three points in a much-needed 2-1 win over Southampton.
Ryan Sessegnon nominated for Premier League Player of the Month
Having scored twice and assisted two more for his side during April, Sessegnon has been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award, alongside Rayan Ait-Nouri, Jorgen Strand Larsen, Morgan Rogers, Harvey Barnes, Alexis Mac Allister, and Jacob Murphy.
Following the announcement, Fulham shared a message on Instagram to their star man, who returned from a five-year spell away from the club this summer, captioned: “Ryan Sessegnon’s superb April has seen him nominated for the Premier League’s EA Sports Player of the Month award.”
The post was then liked by teammates Bassey and Smith Rowe, showing their support for the 24-year-old.
Fulham may look to cash in on Antonee Robinson as Ryan Sessegnon blossoms
Football Insider Verdict
With Andy Robertson’s performances a point of concern for Arne Slot’s side this season, the Reds are expected to be in the market for a left-back this summer.
Antonee Robinson, Jorrel Hato, and Milos Kerkez are the main names linked with Liverpool as they look to find a replacement.
Fulham’s all-action USA international has been a revelation this season, registering 10 assists for the West London club.

However, having dealt with a niggling injury that caused the 27-year-old to pull out of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad in March, Robinson’s performances have dipped, giving Sessegnon the opportunity to lay claim to the left-back spot.
Whilst the former Wigan defender remains an integral piece of Silva’s squad, the club may be enticed to cash in on the 27-year-old and redistribute the funds to other areas of the squad this summer, knowing they have a ready-made replacement in the form of their in-form English left-back.
