Emile Smith Rowe: Club-record deal agreed, Fulham medical begins

Fulham have agreed a club-record fee to sign Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe, sources have told Football Insider.

A deal has been negotiated between the Premier League rivals that will cost the Cottagers £27million, plus £7million in add-ons.

The 24-year-old has left Arsenal’s pre-season tour to jet in for a medical to complete the final stages of this transfer.

A full agreement is done between the London clubs, with Mikel Arteta deeming Smith Rowe surplus to requirement.

The Englishman has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates, and his struggles for game time have opened up the chance for him to depart.

The deal will be pure profit for Arsenal regarding PSR, which will boost their transfer plans this summer.

Arteta is willing to let some of Arsenal’s fringe players leave to raise funds, which will be reinvested in strengthening the squad before the transfer deadline.

Fulham will provide Emile Smith Rowe a chance to restart his career

Smith Rowe had plenty of expectations among Arsenal fans, but after playing only 346 minutes in the Premier League last season he is ready for a new challenge.

Despite that, the attacking midfielder does plenty of experience to Craven Cottage after making 80 appearances in the top flight throughout his career.

Smith Rowe has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League, proving his ability to play in the division.

The academy graduate leaving Arsenal could help the Gunners fund a move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
