Emiliano Martinez could quit Aston Villa as Man United plot fresh push
Emiliano Martinez’s future at Aston Villa remains up in the air despite having failed to secure a move away during the summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old was widely expected to leave Villa during the summer after Martinez appeared to wave goodbye to the supporters at the end of last season.
Unai Emery has since reintegrated him into his first-team plans at Villa Park, with all parties keen to get on with the task at hand despite the summer frustrations.
However, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 23 September that Martinez could push to leave Aston Villa if their poor start to the season does not turn around.
Man United were the strongest contenders for him during the summer, and there remains a possibility the Red Devils could return to tempt him away from Villa Park.

Emiliano Martinez could be tempted by Man United offer
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 2 October that Man United could reignite their interest in Martinez in the near future.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Martinez’s future is still not secure and he could be tempted to make a move should Ruben Amorim’s side opt to reignite their future in the summer transfer window.
While a deal is expected to be difficult to agree in January, the Argentina international remains a key target as they aim to bring experience between the sticks.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “If Man United are in the market for a new goalkeeper and an experienced one, there’s not many better around than Martinez.
“Obviously, there was a lot of talk that he was going to leave Villa in the summer and United were the main club to show interest in him.
“They tried to get him on loan and that was never going to be agreed by Aston Villa. There was obviously interest for Martinez to make the move to Old Trafford as well.
“Of course the window closed with Martinez and United brought in Senne Lammens, but he’s more of a long-term goalkeeper, so if they are wanting an experienced option then obviously Martinez ticks a lot of boxes for them.

“His long-term future at Aston Villa is still up in the air considering everything that happened in the summer, and I’m sure he could be tempted to make a move.
“It would be difficult to do a deal in January, but if they’re still in need of a new goalkeeper next summer, then it may be something they look at again.”
Despite suggestions of renewed interest, however, Football Insider revealed in August that Emery had no plans to let Martinez leave as he remains a valuable asset.
Man United plot fresh move to sign Martinez
Brown told Football Insider on 30 September that Amorim wants to sign a new goalkeeper as he is not content with his current options.
As a result, United have now been backed to turn their attentions back to Martinez, who was their top target for the position despite being unable to agree a deal in the summer.
The goalkeeper would seemingly be open to a move to Old Trafford, after Brown told Football Insider that Martinez was “disappointed” not to join Man United.

After Andre Onana left the club during the summer, Amorim has been deciding between Lammens and Altay Bayindir between the sticks.
Lammens started his first game for the club against Sunderland and kept a clean sheet in the 2-0 win, but a more experienced goalkeeper remains high on their list of targets.
