England fans taken aback by ‘mad’ Noni Madueke display vs Andorra

England winger Noni Madueke was the centre of attention during Thomas Tuchel’s side’s 2-0 victory inWorld Cup qualification over Andorra at Villa Park.

The Arsenal winger was instrumental in everything positive that England did against a compact and resolute Andorra side.

A turgid game came to life when Madueke linked up with former Chelsea teammate Reece James on the right side for England, with both players playing key roles in England’s two goals.

It was Madueke’s cross-come-shot that found the unfortunate head of Andorra defender Christian Garcia to open the scoring for England.

Noni Madueke turns heads in turgid performance

Andorra were compact and well-drilled in their 5-4-1 shape and England weren’t afforded much space or room between the lines to create many chances.

On an afternoon where Tuchel’s England were under the microscope the German failed to make a statement about how his England team would look at next year’s World Cup.

The combination play out wide was encouraging with both Marcus Rashford and Madueke looking threatening when in isolation with an Andorran defender.

In a performance that failed to inspire in large parts, Madueke was the bright spark that got the England crowd roaring at Villa Park and on social media.

One England fan took to X (formerly Twitter), to praise Madueke’s performance, saying: “Everything bright that England have done has come from Madueke.”

While another added: “Madueke is so direct. It’s so refreshing.”

Madueke created two chances according to Fotmob, and another fan felt that his Arsenal teammate Eberechi Eze should have done better with one of them.

“That dribble from Madueke was mad. Eze should have hit that with his laces.”

As Tuchel comes under fire for some of his selection choices, Madueke will certainly be getting the German some credit amongst the fanbase.
