England fans tear into ‘horrible’ Phil Foden after what they saw him do vs Albania
England fans were left angered by Phil Foden’s performance in Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge against Albania.
England secured a 2-0 win at Wembley on 21 March, with goals from Harry Kane and a debut strike by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Whilst the Arsenal full-back impressed on his first match, Foden had a poor performance for England, as he failed to impact the game.
Foden has already faced criticism from his club’s supporters this season for inconsistent performances, and his showing for England did little to change the perception in an underwhelming season for the forward.
He was substituted after 74 minutes, failing to register a single key pass, successful dribble, or shot on goal. It was far from the statement performance he would have hoped to produce in a poor audition in front of Tuchel.

Man City are ‘concerned’ about Phil Foden’s dip in form
The 24-year-old’s performances this season are a stark contrast to last year when he won the PFA Player of the Year award and played a key role in Manchester City’s title-winning campaign.
Back in November, Football Insider revealed that Man City were concerned about Foden’s form, as he had yet to score a single Premier League goal at that stage of the season.
Man City fans have grown frustrated with Foden due to his uncharacteristic mistakes this term and lack of impact in key matches as the side sit fifth and crashed out of the Champions League without even reaching the round of 16 stage.
However, despite his struggles, Pep Guardiola has continued to back him, with Foden making 38 appearances this season and contributing 10 goals.
For England, he started on the right wing against Albania, but with Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer both unavailable, that position may not be his for long once they return.
England fans call for Foden to be dropped after Albania performance
Tuchel has already faced scrutiny for his squad selections, particularly for initially leaving Morgan Gibbs-White out of the squad.
As England manager, his decisions will always be heavily analysed, and after the Albania game, many fans believe Foden should not start against Latvia or even in future matches.
One fan said: “Foden shouldn’t even be in this squad” while another added, “We need Saka back ASAP, Foden is terrible on the right wing.”
