Manchester United discussed signing Celtic striker Moussa Dembele in the summer, according to a report.
L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) have made the claim that the club managed by Jose Mourinho had the player on their wish list in the summer, but they elected not to make a move for the player.
Dembele had a great first season with Celtic last year, scoring 32 goals in 49 games. He recently made his return from injury and turned in a fine performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The Frenchman has a chance to display his prowess tonight when he returns to his former club PSG in the Champions League.
Football Insider verdict: It seems inevitable that Dembele will leave Celtic sooner rather than later. He could even leave at the end of the season. The likes of West Ham and Swansea have been linked with the striker but Manchester United is a club which is more deserving of his talents. Dembele has shown in his recent return from injury that he is almost back to his form from last season, and Celtic will probably get bids for the player in the summer. Celtic may be able to resist any bids for the player in January, but in the summer may be a different story.
