Brighton are expected to launch a £20million bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele within the next few days, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that the big-spending Premier League side – who splashed £39.5million in the summer – are ready to make an offer for the Hoops player this week now that the January transfer window is open.
The report also claims that Stoke had scouts watching the Frenchman against Rangers in the Old Firm derby on Boxing Day.
Dembele has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, with the Daily Star recently reporting that Southampton, West Ham and Everton are also interested in the French under-21 international.
With no Celtic game until the 20 January, there’s a good chance Dembele may have played his last game for the Scottish champions.
Football Insider verdict
The Stoke scouts at the Old Firm derby won’t have been impressed with Dembele’s performance in the game, but that shouldn’t take away his time in Glasgow, where he has been a huge success. It seems inevitable that the striker’s time at Celtic is coming to an end, and manager Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for a bidding war, to add to the transfer funds for a Hoops team which is looking in need of some major additions. Whilst the chances for the Hoops getting £40million for the player seem non-existent, selling a player for £20million that you bought for half-a-million pounds in a superb bit of business.
