‘Enzo Fernandes to join Real Madrid, Romeo Lavia to leave’ – Chelsea fans react to ‘£70m’ news
Chelsea have assembled one of the most expensive midfields in world football over the past few seasons but they are not done yet.
Enzo Maresca boasts a squad with a plethora of options in midfield with the likes of Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Romeo Lavia.
The Blues boss has even begun converting Reece James into a central midfielder in a bid to strengthen this area of the pitch, but he has still struggled to find a winning formula.
Chelsea had an impressive first-half to the season which saw them appear as a surprise package to potentially mount a Premier League title challenge.
However, that has faded away as the season has progressed with the Blues struggling to find consistency in performances and results.
Chelsea are currently fourth in the table as they look to secure a return to Champions League football in a bid to retain players such as Cole Palmer while attracting other prominent stars to the club.

Romeo Lavia has had several fitness problems since joining Chelsea
Lavia is a player that Maresca has put into his team regularly when he has been fit and available, but that has proven to be few and far between since he moved to Stamford Bridge in 2023.
The 21-year-old has only played 10 Premier League games this season due to a hamstring problem, having missed 14 games in the league alone due to injury.
This comes after Lavia missed the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign due to injury which has left major question marks over whether he will ever get back to playing regularly.

Chelsea fans want to snap up a replacement midfielder
Chelsea supporters have had enough of waiting for Lavia to string a number of games together, and it is believed that the Blues are stepping up their pursuit of Kobbie Mainoo to replace him.
There’s a growing concern about Lavia’s fitness, and the Man United midfielder is someone who Chelsea pursued during the January transfer window.

Industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that United will accept a £70million bid for him after the England international rejected their latest contract offer, which is something Chelsea fans want the club to take advantage of.
