‘Enzo Maresca has damaged Chelsea players’ – Fans react to Ian Wright reveal
Chelsea fans have started questioning Enzo Maresca’s approach to the season after Ian Wright reflected on the manager’s decision to rule the team out of the Premier League title race.
The Blues have been in a tough run of form lately, having won only one Premier League match in their previous six fixtures which has led to them slipping down the table into sixth.
Chelsea are now 13 points adrift of Liverpool, which is in line with the fact Maresca has been publicly stating that his team isn’t in the title race this season.
However, during the latest episode of Wrighty’s House Podcast the former Arsenal star blamed Maresca for their current form.
Wright said, “He didn’t need to say that, he could have just said it in the dressing room. [Former Arsenal manager] George Graham wouldn’t say anything that made you think, Arsene Wenger as well was very positive.
“When I heard it, I thought it’s almost like giving the players a get out of jail free card if you start playing badly. I found it strange, it didn’t need to be said. At some stage, there was going to be some form of drop-off without him saying that and giving them an excuse.
“He should have just said it’s brilliant and we’re ahead of schedule and we will see where we are. That’s what you do.”
Chelsea fans are worried Enzo Maresca is damaging the players
Chelsea supporters have agreed with Wright and have begun questioning the manager as they believe “it is a psychological thing.”
Fans have claimed Maresca should have “responded only positively” in a bid to not damage anyone’s mentality.
