‘Enzo Maresca is a coward’ – Chelsea fans explode at announcement vs Southampton

Chelsea fans have slammed Enzo Maresca for a number of his starting XI selections as they welcome Southampton to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Supporters are extremely unhappy with the club as a whole right now, with many Chelsea fans holding protests against the owners before kick-off on 25 February.

However, much of this anger and frustration has been aimed at the under-pressure manager, with Chelsea without a win in their last three matches across all competitions.

Maresca looks to be on the edge of being sacked by Todd Boehly, with the American known for his hastiness when it comes to replacing managers at Stamford Bridge.

If the Blues are unable to defeat the Saints on Tuesday night, with their opponents currently sitting bottom of the Premier League table with nine points, it could be lights out for the manager.

Ivan Juric is also at risk of being sacked at Southampton, and with Maresca choosing to stick by one of his players for the game, he might have sealed his own fate too.

Chelsea fans rage over Christopher Nkunku, Jadon Sancho and Malo Gusto

Christopher Nkunku has experienced a torrid time since joining the North London side, having been sidelined for so long with injury and being kept out of the team by Nicolas Jackson.

However, with the striker now injured long-term, the Frenchman has three consecutive starts under his belt but has been unable to register a single goal contribution in those games.

Chelsea’s drop in form has also coincided with Cole Palmer’s poor performances, with the club having already been warned about the potential for their superstar to leave without Champions League football next season.

Enzo Maresca could be hours away from Chelsea sacking

A defeat to the Saints would really be a shock to the system, given they have only won two Premier League games this season and are 13 points adrift from safety.

There have been multiple upsets in the league this season, though, and Maresca must be wary of his side faltering at home to a team they should be thrashing by five or six goals.

The manager has now been labelled “depressing” and a “coward” as he continues to put his trust in Nkunku, with others begging for academy youngsters to be given an opportunity instead.
