Enzo Maresca should be concerned after what Carlo Ancelotti was forced to do to Estevao

Enzo Maresca might have some red flags to address after Estevao was reportedly misbehaving on international duty.

Estevao has been one of Chelsea’s most exciting players so far this season, even scoring the winner in a surprise 2-1 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge at the start of October.

Amongst the celebrations, Maresca was sent off for his celebrations, having already been on a yellow card, but it was all worth it to join the wild scenes after the youngster’s injury-time goal.

Since then, the 18-year-old bagged a brace against South Korea and one against Senegal, scored in back-to-back Champions League games against Ajax and Qarabag, with yet another in the win versus Wolves.

Enzo Maresca must keep an eye on Estevao

Despite his ability in front of goal, he is still very much a raw talent, and one that needs nurturing and developing if he is to be at Chelsea for the next few years.

Maresca has done brilliantly to manage the expectations around the Brazilian, and the same can be said for international manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has seen the very best of him in recent months.

However, there appears to still be some improvements that the youngster can make when it comes to his behaviour on the pitch, having been singled out by the former Real Madrid boss.

According to the Daily Mail (17 November), back in October, the head coach was forced to dress down the Chelsea gem in front of the entire squad during training.

Carlo Ancelotti has sent a warning to Chelsea

It is understood that Estevao repeatedly ignored Ancelotti’s orders to put pressure on a full-back during a training exercise, which enraged the coach enough to threaten the player with an axe from the team.

While there have been no public suggestions of this back at Stamford Bridge, it is a reminder to Maresca that the player is an inexperienced youngster who is still making his way to the very top.

It is a lot of pressure for someone of his age, and it could be very simple for Estevao to step out of line, either behind closed doors in training or in front of a packed-out crowd.

Maresca has handled his squad very well since arriving at Stamford Bridge, so it will not be a huge concern for the Italian, but certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward.
