Eric Dier delivers Tottenham verdict on title run-in, makes comment on Chelsea
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham ace Eric Dier claims his side will be striving to keep up their good form as they push for the Premier League title, but feels rivals Chelsea deserve credit for their efforts this season.
The two London clubs are competing for the league crown this campaign, with the Blues boasting a seven-point lead at the top of the table.
Spurs will momentarily close the gap to just four points on Saturday if they beat Bournemouth at White Hart Lane, before Chelsea face a match away to Manchester United on Sunday.
Versatile player Dier believes his side will keep trying to apply the pressure on the leaders, but paid a compliment to the form showed by Antonio Conte’s side.
“It is always nice to play first,” Dier said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “Hopefully we can narrow the gap to four points and then hope for them to slip up.

“It isn’t a case of ‘we’ve lost it’ but it’s a case of Chelsea have done extremely well themselves and went on that amazing unbeaten run. As a season, we’ve been consistent and going into the last period now we’ve been impressive and want to try and keep that up.”
Spurs have managed to set-up a title race after finding some good form recently, but Chelsea have been the champions-elect for months.
The Blues won 13 consecutive league matches during 2016 and that helped them rise to the top of the standings.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were the team to end that streak with a 2-0 home win as Dele Alli scored two headed goals.
They are now looking to apply some pressure with just seven league games remaining and will need a mighty Chelsea collapse to overtake them.
