Eric Dier urges Tottenham duo to pull their weight

By Amir Mir

Eric Dier has urged Tottenham duo Vincent Janssen and Son Heung-Min to pull their weight and prove their worth after the injury to star striker Harry Kane.

Defender Dier backed the attacking duo to shine after Kane injured his ankle during the 6-0 win against Millwall in the FA Cup on Sunday.

It is not yet known how long Kane will be out for, but there is the chance that the England international could miss the remainder of the season.

If that is the case, then Mauricio Pochettino would need someone to fill the boots of a player that is currently the top goalscorer in the Premier League this season.

Furthermore, the north London club have entered a crucial stage of their campaign with the top four and FA Cup still up for grabs.

Dier backed Janssen and Son to shine, but he also believes that the rest of the team will have to contribute during Kane’s absence.

“Apart from that, it was great that Sonny got a hat-trick and Vincent scored. Hopefully, they will step up,” Dier told the Daily Star. “Can they fill the void? I hope so – they proved it against Millwall. Hopefully, everyone can pull their weight and we’ll keep going forward.

“There aren’t many players in the world you can replace Harry with but it is a chance for someone else to step up. Not just the strikers but the whole team.”

Versatile attacker Son started the FA Cup encounter at the weekend as he struck a magnificent hat-trick against the League One side.

Furthermore, to boost the supporters confidence, Janssen came off the bench to score his first goal from open play for the club.

The Dutch striker has struggled during his time at White Hart Lane following his big money move from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.

With the possibility of more regular game time, he will be hoping to prove his worth during the Premier League home clash against Southampton this Sunday.
