Erik ten Hag sack to spark mass Man United exodus – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted several behind-the-scenes figures and players will have to leave Man United if Erik ten Hag is sacked.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Ten Hag’s “Ajax and Dutch-inspired group” could mean “internal squabbling” at Old Trafford.

This summer, Dutch coaches Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy have joined the staff at United with Jelle ten Rouwelaar also coming in as goalkeeping coach.

Joshua Zirkzee has joined fellow Dutchman Tyrell Malacia in the squad, while Antony and Andre Onana have previously played under Ten Hag at Ajax.

United are also interested in potential swoops for Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt, who have also played for the Red Devils boss in Amsterdam.

Wyness expects mass Man United exodus when Ten Hag is sacked

Wyness suggested internal power struggles “could manifest on the pitch” this term.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There are big question marks around Ten Hag.

“He’s put this Ajax and Dutch-inspired group together both behind the scenes and on the pitch, and that could lead to internal squabbling from different factions.

“When Ten Hag is sacked, there will be a big group of staff going and also a few players who will have to go.

“They’re putting themselves in a very dangerous position.

“Like Chelsea, they’ll have to hit the ground running this season.

“Ten Hag’s got the brownie points from the fans for the way he was treated at the end of last season.

“There are too many moving parts at Man United right now – like with sacking a big part of the staff.

“You have to pick your battles in football.

“These battles could manifest on the pitch. If the atmosphere isn’t right around the club, then the results don’t come – I’ve seen it happen.”
