Dembele is off the pace
Spurs’ ‘genius’, as Mauricio Pochettino calls him, looked off the pace on Wednesday night. Restored to the starting line-up after being given a breather against Everton at the weekend – when he had only a 20-minute cameo – Dembele was a shadow of his normal formidable self. He struggled to retain possession, particularly in the first half, and it appears that his foot injury from last season is still a concern. With his power and composure, the Belgium international is vital to Tottenham dominating in the centre of the pitch. They badly need him back to his best.
