Current star surprise name on reported 20 best-ever Tottenham players

Current Tottenham pair Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen have been named on a list of the 20 best ever players to turn out for the North London club.
On the Daily Mail’s list, Danish midfielder Eriksen is placed 20th and England striker Kane placed 18th, the two separated by mercurial striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The list comes as Tottenham prepare to play at White Hart Lane one final time before spending next season at Wembley, prior to moving into their new stadium which is currently under construction.
Eriksen is a surprise inclusion on the list, sneaking in ahead of Tottenham icons such as David Ginola, Ray Clemence and Pat Jennings.
Journalist Pete South, who compiled the list, justified Eriksen’s on the Daily Mail website, saying: “He’s covered 253 miles on the pitch this season, the second highest total in the Premier League.

“When you combine his workrate with the fact he is leading the league in assists (12) this season, you get a a sense of just how special a player he is.”
Kane is the only other inclusion from Mauricio Pochettino’s current squad of players, with the striker having scored over 20 goals for three successive seasons.
South wrote on the Daily Mail website: “He is the first Tottenham player to score 20 or more goals in three consecutive seasons since a certain Jimmy Greaves.
“At 23, there’s still plenty of time for him to rocket up this list.”
Tottenham legend Greaves is the man who tops the list, having scored an incredible 266 goals in 380 games for the club.
The rest of the top five are made up of Glenn Hoddle, Dave Mackay, Danny Blanchflower and Paul Gasgoigne, while Gareth Bale and Ledley King are notable inclusions from the last decade.
In other Tottenham news, Phil Thompson excluded a key man from his Spurs and Manchester United combined XI.
