Erling Haaland and Micah Richards react to Ait-Nouri transfer update at Man City

Rayan Ait-Nouri’s latest transfer update caught the attention of past and present Man City stars Erling Haaland and Micah Richards.

Pep Guardiola‘s side are closing in on moves for creative midfielders Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, with the Citizens clearly meaning business after a difficult 2024/25 campaign.

Now, the Wolves full-back has emerged as a concrete target ahead of next season, having impressed over the last five seasons at the Molineux, even notching 12 goals and 15 assists in 157 games.

Of those goal contributions, 11 of them came in the Premier League this season, with several clubs in the division keeping tabs on the Algerian international ahead of the summer transfer window.

It appears, however, that City are set to win the race for the wing-back’s signature, especially after the latest transfer update from the famous Fabrizio Romano.

Man City close in on Rayan Ait-Nouri deal

Taking to Instagram (5 June), Romano wrote: “HERE WE GO! Manchester City agree deal to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves.

“Agreement club to club done today for a total fee close to €40million [£33.7m] as medical tests will then take place on Saturday. The left-back accepted City’s project earlier this week.”

Haaland was joined by Richards in liking the post, as well as new Man United signing Matheus Cunha, Nottingham Forest’s Murillo, and Everton’s loanee Orel Mangala.

Football Insider verdict

The Citizens spent well over £100million during the winter transfer window, bringing Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, Juma Bah, and Vitor Reis.

While Marmoush was a successful signing, he failed to completely shift the team’s performances, with City still losing to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final and being knocked out of the Champions League.

With Guardiola wanting to bounce straight back, Football Insider also understands that Cherki has become a concrete option for Man City, as well as other attacking stars.

As expected with multiple signings, though, there will have to be some exits as well, with Football Insider understanding that Jack Grealish is likely one of two Man City attackers to leave this summer.

Mateo Kovacic, Bernardo Silva, Ederson, and John Stones have also been linked with exits, and with Guardiola never a fan of a bigger squad, some of these players will need to find new homes.

While it is a hugely exciting transfer window for City fans already, it is bound to be an emotional one when so many regular figures are being tipped to depart the Etihad Stadium over the coming weeks.
