Erling Haaland and Phil Foden send messages to Josko Gvardiol after huge Man City update
Josko Gvardiol has been a key player for Manchester City once again so far in 2025-26.
The Croatian has started in 15 of the Citizens’ opening 20 Premier League games this term, and he has become a firm favourite of Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City shelled out around £78million for Gvardiol back in 2023, and he has become a staple of their success since then.
The Croatian was forced off through injury early in the second half of his team’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday evening, and City have now received a damaging update regarding his injury.

Josko Gvardiol suffers fractured tibia
Manchester City fans were frustrated after their team conceded a last-minute equaliser against Chelsea on Sunday night.
It was a difficult evening for Guardiola’s men, as they were unable to close the gap again on Arsenal at the top of the table, and also lost a key member of their defence in Gvardiol.
Manchester City provided an update on Monday and revealed that the 23-year-old has suffered a fracture to his right tibia and is set to undergo surgery to correct the issue later this week.
Gvardiol took to Instagram to share his disappointment at his injury, but was quick to emphasise his determination to return even stronger.
“This is a hard moment, but it will never define me,” the defender wrote in his post.
“I know who I am and where I come from. To the Citizens, thank you for your endless support. I love you, and I’ll fight every day to return stronger, as a City warrior.”
Gvardiol’s City teammates piled in with messages of support for the injured star in the comments section of his post, with Phil Foden commenting: “Speedy recovery my mate.”
Erling Haaland also offered his support, as he replied with two praying emojis, followed by an emoji of a sky blue heart.
Man City have already arranged cover for Gvardiol
Manchester City are chasing Marc Guehi this winter, ahead of his contract expiring at Crystal Palace in the summer.
Guardiola and Co. have identified the England international as an ideal long-term option for their backline, but they have also acted immediately to provide cover following Gvardiol’s injury.
City recalled 20-year-old centre-back Max Alleyne from his loan spell with Watford on Monday, and with John Stones also sidelined through injury, he is expected to play a part against Brighton on Wednesday.
Guehi would be an ideal figure to replace Gvardiol in the coming months, and the pair would undoubtedly be a formidable partnership at the heart of the backline in the long term.
