Erling Haaland: Fans stunned as latest Man City footage emerges from Man United clash – ‘Unbelievable’
Fans on social media were quick to react as Man City star Erling Haaland missed an open goal in their derby victory against Man United on Sunday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s side fought back from a goal down at the Etihad Stadium to maintain their pressure on Liverpool in the title race.
Marcus Rashford stunned the hosts early on with a superb strike from range, but Phil Foden overturned the deficit with two brilliant goals after the break before Haaland wrapped up the victory in injury time.
City’s number nine was presented with a huge chance to score in the first half after Foden headed the ball across the goal, but the Norwegian international stunned viewers by sending his shot soaring over the crossbar.
Haaland leads the scoring charts in the Premier League this season with a tally of 17, but he may also now boast the worst miss of the season.
Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to the miss with some supporters calling him “overrated” and a “fraud”.
City return to action with a Champions League clash against Copenhagen on Wednesday night before they turn their attention to a title clash with Liverpool at Anfield next weekend.
United will look to avenge their derby defeat when they host Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday (9 March).
