Erling Haaland has ‘agreed the biggest deal in Premier League history’
Manchester City have agreed the biggest deal in Premier League history after star forward Erling Haaland has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider it’s a “massive” sign of commitment from the Norway international to the Premier League champions.
Man City announced on Friday (17 January) Haaland has signed a new contract at the Etihad until 2034.
The 24-year-old joined Pep Guardiola’s side from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 after they triggered his £51million release clause.
The forward has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for the club, including 21 strikes in 28 games this season.
The Athletic reported on 17 January any release clauses implemented in Haaland’s previous deal have now been removed after he’s signed one of the most lucrative sporting contracts ever.
Man City have made ‘huge’ commitment after agreeing Erling Haaland deal
Borson insisted Man City have made a “huge” financial commitment after agreeing new terms with Haaland.
He told Football Insider: “I think you read it as a high level of confidence in the 115 charges case and that he’s here for the long-term in terms of the overall project.
“It’s a huge financial commitment.
“It will be the biggest-ever contract in Premier League history by a mile.
“It’s a nine-and-a-half-year deal, so clearly the gross amount of that contract is going to be the largest ever.

“From the other side, it’s clearly a massive sign of commitment from Haaland.
“When he signed, people maybe would have perceived him to have been a player who would stay for two or three years and then go to Real Madrid or elsewhere.
“It’s obviously very positive for City fans despite what’s been happening on the field.”
