Erling Haaland makes Man City demand that could trigger move – report

Man City star Erling Haaland has put Spanish giants Real Madrid on high alert after reportedly demanding a release clause in any potential new deal.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Man City are keen on tying the 24-year-old down to a deal that would see him overtake teammate Kevin De Bruyne as the Premier League’s highest-paid player.

Haaland put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Man City after the champions activated a £52million release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract back in 2022.

The Norway international has once again started the new season in blistering style, scoring seven goals in Man City’s opening three league games.

With 70 goals in 69 Premier League games, should Haaland remain in the Premier League, he could be well on his way to beating Alan Shearer’s record of 260.

Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, openly discussed a potential move to the Spanish capital last season, hinting at the striker’s admiration for Real Madrid.

Speaking to El Chiringuito, Pimenta said, “There’s the Premier League and then there’s also Madrid.

“They have something of their own that is also the dream for the players. Madrid keeps this magic going. They don’t have the weekly competitions, but they have the Champions League.”

The big Norwegian was unable to bring his impressive club form onto the international stage as his country laboured to a 0-0 draw against 109th-ranked Kazakhstan.

Man City and Haaland will be aiming to keep their 100 per cent record intact as they face Brentford at the Etihad Stadium once the international break is over.
