Erling Haaland ‘makes Man City transfer exit demand amid contract talks’
Erling Haaland will only sign a new contract with Man City if his £150million release clause is kept in the deal, talkSPORT have reported.
Pep Guardiola extending his own contract with the Premier League champions, which the 53-year-old did on Thursday (21 November), is thought to have helped towards convincing the Norwegian to follow.
Haaland himself is now expected to extend his current deal and City are confident, but only if that release clause remains in his contract.
There have recently been suggestions that Real Madrid could be a potential destination for the Norway international when he does move on..
That release clause would still give him a get-out option. However, it has been claimed that Man City could increase his £375,000 per week deal, to ward off outside interest.
Haaland’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium is set run until the end of the 2026/27 season.

On the whole, this update on Haaland should be viewed as welcome news by supporters of the Premier League champions.
The striker has been an incredible signing since he joined Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer of 2022.
He has been smashing goalscoring records at a remarkable rate, and has been important as anyone to the success Man City have enjoyed in the past couple of years.

Securing his future at the club is therefore going to be a major boost when it comes to their prospects further down the line. even if the fact the release clause remains could be a concern.
You can understand Haaland wanting that to be included, given it remains to be seen what punishment the club might receive if found guilty of the 115 charges against them, which they are contesting.
He is not going to want that to stunt his career and so that clause could help him if the club are hit badly by that.
A wage rise though, could give the Premier League champions some protection when it comes to the striker’s future regardless.
With that in mind, this should generally be seen as a positive update for those of a Man City persuasion.
