Erling Haaland: Man City tipped to reach ‘frightening’ new heights after ‘unbelievable’ news – pundit
Man City will be the best team in Europe if they sign Erling Haaland this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed Man City should sign Haaland even if they win the Champions League this term to stop their rivals from getting better.
A club source told Football Insider on Saturday (12 February) they are in pole position to sign the 21-year-old superstar as his father Alf Inge wants his son to sign for his former club.
Haaland has a £68million release clause that activates at the end of the season meaning the competition for his signature will be red-hot.
He could demand wages that would see him as the Premier League’s biggest earner but Agbonlahor insisted he would be worth every penny.
“If they can sign Haaland, they’ll be the best team in Europe, for me,” he told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s that good. For me, he would make any team unbelievably better.
“If I was Man City, with the funds that they have available, I would buy him just to stop other teams from getting him.
“If Man City want to win the Champions League and they don’t win it this season, you don’t want a Bayern Munich or Real Madrid to get Haaland because he’s the missing part of the jigsaw for those teams.

“Man City with Kevin de Bruyne and Jack Grealish playing one-twos with Haaland, it would be frightening to watch.
“£68million is a bargain fee but the wages will be sky-high. You’ll get that all back on sponsorships, advertisements and shirt sales. For me, it’s a no brainer.”
In other news, Kieran Maguire has revealed Man City can thank Premier League chiefs as Friday news means a £176m per year payout is on the cards.
