Erling Haaland sends message to Man City fans after embarrassing reveal

Man City star Erling Haaland has taken to social media to publicly apologise to the fans after their 4-1 Champions League defeat to Sporting CP on Tuesday (November 5).

The 24-year-old had a header cleared off the line and rattled the crossbar with a penalty in an unusually off night for the big Norwegian.

Haaland was largely ineffective throughout the game, completing just six passes, missing two big chances, and, embarrassingly, having just 15 touches over the full 90 minutes.

Viktor Gyokeres on the other hand was at his clinical best, bagging a hattrick to win the battle of the Scandinavian strikers and give Ruben Amorim the perfect farewell before he joins Man United.

An off day for Erling Haaland and Man City

Pep Guardiola’s side have now lost three consecutive games for the first time since 2018 following defeats to Tottenham, Bournemouth, and now Sporting.

Haaland hasn’t scored in his last two games—a drought by his high standards, especially given he’s already netted 11 goals in 10 Premier League matches this season.

Defiant and determined to do better, Haaland took to Instagram to tell fans he’s working hard to turn things around.

Both Haaland and City will now turn their attention to Saturday (November 9) as they prepare to face Brighton in their new Premier League games.

Unable to take advantage of Newcastle’s win over Arsenal, City dropped into second as Arne Slot’s impressive start to life at Liverpool continues.

In other news, Man City set aside funds for two big January deals.
