Erling Haaland sends message to Man City fans after shock development
Man City star Erling Haaland has taken to social media to thank the fans for their support after their shock 2-1 League Cup defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday (October 30).
Pep Guardiola opted to drop the 24-year-old for the game, choosing to deploy Phil Foden as a false nine at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead.
The experiment failed, and the eight-time League Cup champions were sent packing thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Pape Sarr.
Midfielder Matheus Nunes continued his impressive run of form, scoring just ahead of half-time making it five goal involvements in three games for the midfielder, but it wasn’t enough.
Focus will now return to the Premier League with Haaland likely to feature in their upcoming game against Bournemouth on Saturday (November 2).
Erling Haaland shows love to the Man City fans
With eleven goals in just nine Premier League appearances, Haaland is well on his way to a third consecutive Golden Boot come the end of the season.
City are the only unbeaten side remaining in the Premier League and have leapfrogged Liverpool into first after their frustrating 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday (October 27).
Things could certainly be worse for Man City but Haaland took the time to send a message to fans on Instagram following their defeat.

Despite his electric start to the season as well as scoring 38 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions last term, Haaland placed fifth in the recent Ballon d’Or rankings.
Thankfully for Man City the ceremony wasn’t a complete bust with midfielder Rodri taking the most prestigious individual award in football back to the Etihad.
