Erling Haaland remained positive on social media despite Man City dropping points to Southampton.

Manchester City’s hopes of securing a Champions League place took a blow after they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at home to already-relegated Southampton.

A rare positive before the game was the return of Haaland to the starting line-up. The striker had been named on the bench for the previous match against Wolves but didn’t feature, as he continued to build fitness following an ankle injury that had kept him out since March.

Despite being back in the XI, Haaland had a mediocre performance and couldn’t make the difference up front, as City struggled to break down Southampton’s defensive setup.

Still, the Norwegian had a message for fans after the final whistle, sharing a short and upbeat post on social media to mark his return.

It’s been a challenging campaign for Pep Guardiola, who’s had to navigate key injuries — including Haaland’s own injury and a season-ending blow to Rodri back in September.

Despite the setbacks, the striker has remained committed to the club’s long-term vision, as Haaland signed a new nine-year contract earlier in the season. The deal signals his intent to remain at the heart of City’s rebuild.

With club legends like Kevin De Bruyne and possibly Ederson tipped for exits, City appear to be preparing for a new era — one in which Haaland is expected to be the focal point.
