Moreno: This Liverpool summer signing has been outstanding
By Harvey Byrne
ESPN pundit and former striker Alejandro Moreno believes Liverpool summer signing Sadio Mane has been “outstanding” since joining.
The 24-year-old attacker completed a move from Southampton in June for a mega £34million.
The price-tag raised a lot of eyebrows with Mane’s only experience in English football coming with the south coast club.
But, he has impressed many during his first nine months at the club and one of those was Moreno, who ranked him in second place in a table of the most expensive Premier League transfers.
“From there we go to Sadio Mane,” started Moreno, speaking on the ESPN wesbite.
“I know that lately Liverpool have been all over the shop, but early on Sadio Mane was outstanding and continues to be a very important player for Liverpool and the value for money was there as well, so Sadio Mane number two.”
Moreno ranked Mane behind Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante in the table, while another notable ranking for Liverpool fans would be that he put Manchester United’s world record transfer Paul Pogba in ninth out of ten, only finishing about another Chelsea signing in Michy Batshuayi.
Meanwhile, Mane continues to shine at Liverpool and he will be looking to add to his 12 goals and eight assists from 27 matches in all competitions before the season’s end.
Liverpool’s next match comes against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday and the Reds will be gunning for all three points as they aim for a top four finish.
In other Liverpool news, this Reds 18-year-old shined for the Under-23s on Monday evening according to his coach.
