Ethan Nwaneri to ‘start’ for Arsenal vs Shakhtar – fans react

Arsenal fans want Mikel Arteta to start youngster Ethan Nwaneri in their upcoming Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday (October 22).

The 17-year-old has exploded onto the scene at the Emirates this season, scoring twice in just 108 minutes across all competitions so far this season.

Both goals came in Arsenal’s dominant 5-1 League Cup victory over Bolton Wanderers, a match that saw seven Hale End academy graduates feature.

Arsenal have struggled for creativity since captain Martin Odegaard has been sidelined with an ankle ligament injury after limping off in Norway’s 2-1 UEFA Nations League win over Austria.

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Nwaneri could be exactly what Arteta’s side need despite his young age.

Arsenal fans want Mikel Arteta to give Ethan Nwaneri a chance

Nwaneri was prolific throughout Arsenal’s youth ranks before breaking into the first team, scoring 29 goals in 58 games across all competitions.

His talent is undeniable, it’s not up to Arteta to manage him properly and Arsenal fans want him to be given a chance in the Champions League.
