Ethan Nwaneri reacts as Viktor Gyokeres delivers fresh Arsenal message

Viktor Gyokeres is vying to guide Arsenal to the Premier League title after signing for the Gunners this summer.

The North London outfit have fallen short in recent top-flight title races, thanks to their previous lack of an out-and-out striker.

However, Gyokeres excelled for Portuguese giants Sporting last term, notching 54 goals and 12 assists in 52 appearances.

Mikel Arteta will hope that the 27-year-old can fire the Emirates Stadium club to their first Premier League title since 2004.

Nwaneri reacts as Gyokeres shares new Arsenal message

While Arsenal have been busy in the transfer market, Ethan Nwaneri enjoyed a breakout season last term, demonstrating the strength of the North London club’s academy.

Meanwhile, Gyokeres took to Instagram on Monday, 28 July, as he wrote: “The longer the wait, the better the taste. COYG.”

The Sweden international’s message attracted a like from Nwaneri, who scored four goals in 26 Premier League appearances last season.

Noni Madueke addition shouldn’t threaten Nwaneri’s game time

However, the 18-year-old could now fear that his game time is under threat after Arteta signed fellow right winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Nwaneri is the Gunners’ second choice on the right flank, thanks to the fierce competition from England star Bukayo Saka, and the addition of Madueke further bolsters the North Londoners’ options on the wing.

However, the former Chelsea man also boasts the ability to play on the left and should therefore be seen as back-up to the inconsistent Gabriel Martinelli.

Consequently, Nwaneri can continue to enjoy serving as Saka’s understudy as he further develops his own game at the Emirates Stadium.

After reaching the Champions League semi-finals last season, Arsenal will be determined to continue making progress in Europe alongside their upcoming Premier League title race, which will allow Nwaneri to feature across all competitions.
