Euro giants makes approach for Aston Villa senior player - report
By Danny Wright
Fenerbahce have approached Aston Villa with a view to taking Ross McCormack on loan, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claims that the European giants are interested in snapping up McCormack, 31, after Robin Van Persie suffered a knee injury while on international duty with the Netherlands.
The transfer window in Turkey doesn’t close until Friday and although it is now shut in England and throughout most of Europe, Villa are still able to let their players join clubs like Fenerbahce.
Van Persie has confirmed that his injury will only keep him sidelined for three weeks, however that hasn’t stopped the Istanbul club from drawing up a list of potential replacements.
The Daily Mail reports that as well as McCormack, Everton’s Oumar Niasse and Atletico Madrid’s Luciano Vietto are of interest to Fenerbahce.

Aston Villa senior player McCormack is understood to have seen a move to Sunderland fall through on transfer deadline day as his future still looks uncertain under the charge of Steve Bruce.
After signing for the Villains last summer, the Scottish attacker has suffered very poor form and went absent from training prior to his loan move to Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season.
He is yet to feature in the match day squad for any if the clubs’ Championship fixtures this term.
Football Insider Verdict
It’s hard to believe that Aston Villa didn’t manage to dispense of McCormack’s services over the summer. They should be doing everything they can to get rid of him to Fenerbahce because the Turkish side would be doing them a major favour by getting him off their wage bill for the season. Unlike Sunderland, Fenerbahce are likely to be able to meet the financial demands of this potential transfer, so if their interest is real, the deal should go through fairly smoothly. However Niasse and Vietto are perhaps both better options, especially the latter, who is one of the more exciting young players in La Liga.
In other Aston Villa news, this £9million ace is almost certain to quit the club next summer.
