Liverpool cult hero John Arne Riise has challenged Alberto Moreno to prove a lot of people wrong by putting his poor Anfield form behind him.
The 25-year-old has been widely criticised for his poor displays in the Liverpool shirt and Jurgen Klopp has moved this summer to sign Andrew Robertson from Hull, who is expected to be the No 1 choice at left-back this season.
Riise, 36, is widely regarded as one of the greatest left-backs that the Reds have had in recent times, but he admits to having had doubts about Moreno himself.
The Spaniard’s form was so poor for Liverpool last season that Klopp was forced to play James Milner out of his comfort role to fill the void on the left side of his defence.
Former Norway international Riise has now urged Moreno to show everyone that he has what it takes to challenge for Robertson’s spot in the starting line-up.
“Moreno, can you turn it all around? Would freaking love it man! Even I doubted you, but things might change my fellow left back,” said Riise on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night.

Moreno only appeared in 18 matches across all competitions for Liverpool last season and was reduced to just two spots in the starting line-up in the Premier League.
The three-times Spain international is mainly criticised for his lack of defensive attributes and is seen as one of the key reasons why the Merseyside club had to bolster their defence this summer.
