Lukaku makes blunt confession, predicts season finish for Everton

Romelu Lukaku has his eyes firmly set on the present at Everton and, in a blunt confession, has admitted that he was not fully focused on the club last season.
Talking in The Express, Lukaku believes that after a disappointing campaign last season, he has turned a new leaf and has his mind fixed on Everton.
“I’m just focused on this period of time and I don’t want to look ahead too far,” Lukaku said in The Express.
“That is the mistake I made last year. I was focusing already ahead and looking forward to things in front instead of the present.
“Now for me it is just game after game, day after day. Improve, come in, do my job and then go home to rest, work again on my body to recover and make sure I can play the next game. It is day by day now.”
Despite saying he may have taken his eye off the ball last season, Lukaku scored 18 league goals, his best return of his career since scoring 17 goals on his loan spell at West Bromwich Albion in 2012/13.
Despite that, the Toffees finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table last year and sacked Roberto Martinez at the end of the season.
Now under the charge of Ronald Koeman Everton are currently sitting seventh, with a potential European place within reach.
The Belgian striker now wants his team to look towards moving up the table.
“The most important thing is to make sure that the team ends as high as possible. We have the aim for the top six.
“We are really close and I have to deliver for my team,” he said.
Lukaku will be looking to smash his 18 goals from last season, after his four-goal haul against Bournemouth.
He already has 16 Premier League goals to his name, just two shy of his record last season.
In other Everton news, Chris Sutton believes Toffees will do well to keep hold of this player.
