Everton and Newcastle warned about Liam Delap’s behaviour at Chelsea
Everton and Newcastle could both be put off signing Chelsea striker Liam Delap due to his behaviour at the London club.
That is according to former Everton chief executive, Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as Delap could leave Chelsea after just one season at Stamford Bridge.
Whilst injuries have hampered Delap’s debut campaign at the Blues, the 23-year-old has only managed to score one Premier League goal for the club.
With Joao Pedro ahead of Delap in the pecking order, the striker could be allowed to depart, and could be guaranteed greater playing time elsewhere in the Premier League.
Newcastle and Everton are both targeting strikers in the summer transfer window, with the two clubs monitoring Delap’s situation.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks David Moyes, and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe, would not be pleased about what he is hearing about Delap.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes the two managers would not sign a player who could disharmonise the dressing room.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “We’re hearing rumours that Delap’s not exactly covered himself in glory with his behaviour and his mental state at Chelsea.
“Eddie Howe and David Moyes do rely a lot on personality and character, and they won’t be happy if they’re hearing those sorts of things.
“So we’ll just put that disclaimer in there for both those managers.”
Everton could pursue alternative option in attack
Everton strikers Beto and Thierno Barry have scored 12 Premier League goals between them this season, and could be aided by extra support up-front.
Delap is just one target for the Toffees, as former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider that Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins could also be on Everton’s radar.
The 30-year-old could be available for £30million, and Aston Villa could be happy to consider offers in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules.
Agreeing summer deals at Everton would be boosted by a return to European football, with David Moyes’s side just three points off the final Champions League spot.
