Everton and Roma ‘speaking’ about Evan Ferguson amid January switch
Everton may have been warned over a potential January move for Evan Ferguson amid his form at Roma.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who doesn’t believe Everton should make a move for the striker.
Ferguson joined Roma on loan from Brighton in the summer transfer window, but the deal may be terminated in January as the 21-year-old has scored just three goals for the club.
Everton were exploring a deal for Ferguson before he joined Roma on loan, with the Toffees needing to add firepower to their attack.
Everton and Roma in Evan Ferguson talks
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks the Toffees will be “speaking” to Roma as the two clubs are both owned by The Friedkin Group.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Roma may not be “happy” with Ferguson.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, it’s interesting with the same ownership with The Friedkin Group, Roma and Everton, you think that both sporting directors would be speaking about the form of the player.
“And if Roma are looking to terminate his loan, it’s obviously because they’re not very happy with him.
“So you’d be wondering why they would think that their sister club, Everton, would be interested in taking him on.”

Everton target key position in January
Everton do want to sign a new right-back in January, and have the position as a high priority after failing to land one of their targets in the summer.
37-year-old Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson have both struggled with injuries, meaning there is little cover for Jake O’Brien.
James Garner has stepped into the role on occasions this season, but the 24-year-old is a key player in midfield for David Moyes.
