Everton backed to secure £22.8m windfall after 'great news' from Kieran Maguire

Paul Robinson has backed Everton to secure a top-eight finish and a much-needed £22.8million windfall.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League number one is adamant Rafael Benitez’s side will be “a different proposition” when Dominic Calvert-Lewin returns.

Everton have dropped to 11th in the Premier League after losing four of their last five Premier League fixtures.

Finance expert Kieran Maguire has told Football Insider a top-eight finish would secure an extra windfall of £22.8million this season.

It comes after the Premier League announced a new lucrative TV rights deal with US broadcaster NBC Sports.

As reported by The Athletic (18th November), the deal is worth £2billion over a six-year period.

When asked by Football Insider to predict the Toffees finishing position this season, Robinson said: “Is a top-eight finish out of the question?

“You would say so on current form but when they get Calvert-Lewin back they’ll be a different proposition. They have really struggled without him and have conceded far too many goals. It is not a great combination.

“They have not invested a lot in the squad of late. They brought Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend in for next to nothing in the summer.

“You question where this squad is going. We talk about Everton every year. A top-eight finish is a realistic target for them, I can see it.

“Financially, they are not in a good place so that extra bit of revenue from the TV deal is great news for them.”
