Everton backed to sign Leicester promotion hero, ‘loan-to-buy offer accepted’

Everton are currently monitoring former Leicester City promotion hero Yunus Akgun, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Merseyside giants “could consider” loaning the 24-year-old with an obligation to buy.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Galatasaray would be open to that idea, which could provide Everton the chance to sign him.

The Friedkin Group are unable to financially back Sean Dyche in the January transfer window due to profit and sustainability issues surrounding the club, therefore loan moves are expected to be the focus for them.

Football Insider revealed that Dyche has identified a wide attacker and a right back as two areas he wants to strengthen, and Akgun ticks that box due to him being a right winger.

Everton could look to sign him on a loan deal with a potential option to sign him permanently next summer if they remain a Premier League club.

Everton see Yunus Akgun as an option to boost their attacking quality

Akgun has played regularly for the Turkish giants this season, having made 23 appearances for the club his season.

The Turkey international has proven his attacking qualities by scoring 10 goals and providing six assists so far, which Dyche would like to add to his squad.

Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League table and sit only two points above the relegation zone which is why Dyche wants to strengthen his options for the second half of the campaign.

Akgun has never played in the Premier League but does have experience in English football after spending last season on loan at Leicester City.

The winger made 23 appearances for the Foxes in the Championship as he helped the club gain promotion.
