Everton backed to sign 'perfect' Neto after major development - pundit

Pedro Neto is the “perfect player” for Everton, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the Toffees are missing a natural winger to play alongside forwards Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (14 June) Everton are working to follow up the potential appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo with the additions of Conor Coady and Neto.

This site learned yesterday (15 June) Everton remain in talks with Nuno but have made contact with Antonio Conte as they keep their options open.

Neto and Coady are both well-liked by their ex-Wolves manager and he believes they can improve the Blues.

And Agbonlahor has insisted Neto, in particular, would be a great signing.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Neto is the perfect player that Everton are missing.

“You look at Everton, they’ve not really got great wingers. They’ve got Richarlison who obviously plays as a striker alongside Calvert-Lewin obviously.

“The wings are where they really struggle though. I can just imagine it, Neto on the right doing a good job for Everton.

“That would be a good signing but Wolves are not going to let him go easily and they’ll be asking for a lot.”

Neto, 21, scored five goals and six assists in 31 Premier League games last season.

His domestic form earned him a first call up to the Portugal squad but he missed out on a place in their squad for this summer’s European Championship with a knee injury.
