Everton are one of three Premier League clubs in the race to sign Caen ace Yann Karamoh, according to a report.
France Football claims that Everton, West Ham and Southampton all have the 18-year-old attacker on their radar, who does not want to stay at Caen past the end of his current deal.
However, it is said his agent has already come to an preliminary agreement with French club St Etienne, which would see him join the club when his contract at Caen runs out next summer.
The report states that Caen’s chiefs do not want to lose Karamoh on a free in 2018, and because of that they may be willing to sell him this summer.
The Ligue 1 ace was a regular in his club’s midfield last term, and he made 36 appearances across all competitions, which yielded five goals and four assists.
The Frenchman broke into the first team at Caen in December 2015, but he did not make his debut until the start of the 2016-17 campaign.
Football Insider verdict
It seems Everton would do well to sign Karamoh, as at the moment it looks as though St Etienne are in pole position to sign him on a free next summer, or force Caen into doing a deal in the coming weeks. However, if that move breaks down the Toffees could be his favoured option, as they could offer him a more lucrative deal than West Ham or Southampton. Everton manager Ronald Koeman has already brought in several new faces this summer, and Karamoh would be a fine addition to his exciting, young squad. But, at the moment a deal seems a long way off.
In other Everton transfer news, Koeman is close to securing a deal for this 24-year-old defender.
