Kieran Maguire tips Everton to match Liverpool after 'momentous' £650m announcement
Everton can replicate cross-city rivals Liverpool and act as a tourism hotspot for the city through their new stadium development.
So says finance boffin Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Toffees officially ‘broke ground’ at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Everton chairman Bill Kenwright called it a “momentous day” for the “great city” of Liverpool.
The club announced in an accompanying statement on 10 August that the site will “act as the catalyst” for £650million’s worth of local redevelopment.
The project is the largest single-site private sector development in the UK and is forecast to furnish the national economy with a £1.3billion boost.
And Maguire explains that the Toffees’ shiny new asset will generate even more buzz for the city of Liverpool.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “They’ll have worked out salaries paid to people, additional money on matchdays etcetera.
“The aim of the Bramley-Moore Dock project is for Everton’s new stadium to be the hub.
“It will be surrounded by retail and leisure opportunities which will attract people to the area to spend money.
“It can allow Everton to replicate Liverpool in terms of people coming to the city and making a weekend of it.
“You might come up with a few friends or members of the family who will watch a match and spend money in the retail area.
“So you can see the benefit in terms of tourism, and Liverpool as a tourist city is absolutely fantastic.“
