Everton must make a bold statement of intent by getting one up on their Premier League rivals, Tottenham, and landing reported target Juventus ace Kwadwo Asamoah this summer.

The left-sided flyer, who can also be used in the centre of the park or in the left-back spot, is out of contract in the summer and has been claimed by the Sun to have turned down an offer of a new deal in Turin in search of new horizons.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has already coughed up more than £250million since his takeover at the club and will be keen to see that next season brings progress from the disappointment of this campaign.

By bagging the 29-year-old, a Serie A title winner last season, the Toffees will be wrapping up a player at the peak of his career, and send out a signal of where they are heading.

With Yannick Bolasie having struggled to show the same Premier League quality he once possessed and Leighton Baines nearing the end of his playing days, there is plenty of room for strengthening down the Everton left.

Given Sam Allardyce’s precarious position at the club, if he is to stay on beyond the end of the season, the Toffees boss will need to dampen down the hostile voices of the Blues supporters against him by making a marquee signing – the Juventus star can be just that.
