Everton close to signing Wilfred Ndidi after he responds to offer – sources

Everton are in hot pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, sources have told Football Insider.

Talks are advancing between the player and club, and the Merseysiders hope to complete a deal by next week, ensuring that he’s part of the squad ahead of pre-season.

The 27-year-old is out of contract with the Foxes on the 30th June, and has rejected a new contract despite Leicester’s recent promotion back into the Premier League.

Everton have offered terms to Ndidi, who has let it be known he favours a move to Merseyside and the chance to work with their manager Sean Dyche.

Everton are working hard to build a competitive squad

Ndidi would mark a positive signing for Everton due to the experience and quality he’d bring to Goodison Park.

The Nigeria international has played 192 games in England’s top flight, scoring seven goals and contributing nine assists throughout those games.

However, the Leicester midfielder is one of many players Everton are interested in during an intense period of transfer activity.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed that the club are also considering a late swoop to sign Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto.

Everton

Despite Everton’s efforts to strengthen the squad for next season, Football Insider revealed that the club will need to recoup £40million to fall inside the allowed profit and sustainability losses limit.

If the Toffees cannot achieve that, then the club could wind up facing another points deduction for the upcoming campaign after having eight taken away last season.

In other news, Everton will agree a stadium naming rights deal imminently.
