Everton could be selling Anthony Gordon and Richarlison after medical update - pundit

Alan Hutton has claimed Everton might have to sell Anthony Gordon and Richarlison.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham defender has insisted that the financial situation at the club could force Frank Lampard into offloading players.

According to Sky Sports (28 June), Tottenham are interested in signing Richarlison, 25, and Gordon, 21, from the Toffees.

The Richarlison deal could be completed as early as Thursday with a Spurs source telling Football Insider he is set for a medical in the coming hours.

Gordon signed for Everton in 2020 and has three years left on his contract with the Merseyside club, wherease Richarlison has two years remaining at the club.

Hutton has claimed that the Toffees might be forced to sell the players due to the club’s financial situation.

“They’ve overspent, we’re talking about half a billion pounds on players and wages and different things so you’d like to think they’ll have to even the books up somewhere.” he told Football Insider.

“If Frank Lampard wants to put his own stamp on this team and get his own type of player in, he might have to sell one or two to try and do that.

“So the likes of Richarlison and Gordon, they would probably bring in the most money at this moment in time. The only thing is they were two of probably the most outstanding players last season.

So to lose those players is definitely going to hurt them. They won’t want to sell but I think they might be in a situation where they might need to.”

The pair contributed 15 goals and eight assists in 63 combined appearances across all competitions last season.
