Everton could land new ’12-point deduction’ in devastating twist – Wyness
Everton’s former CEO Keith Wyness has predicted his old club will land a six-point deduction for their second rule breach – but suggested it be suspended and doubled to 12 points if they were to go on and breach it next year.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed a Premier League “truce” would allow every club to “get back to football”.
Everton were charged with a second breach of the league’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) earlier this year – with an independent commission hearing the case this week.
The Merseysiders, who have already been hit with a six-point deduction this season, will find out their fate on 8 April – according to the Premier League.

Any further penalty will greatly blow Sean Dyche’s hopes of survival, with Everton just four points above the drop zone with 10 games left to play this term.
When asked about a potential punishment, Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It could be six points again.
“Everton, just like Forest, have co-operated the second time around – so does that mean it goes back to four?
“Each case is not providing a precedent that is being followed the next time.
“It’s so hard to know what is going to happen.
“I’m more hoping they will suspend this second points deduction. Then, if you break it again next year, you get double.

“That’s one way to clean up this unholy mess.
“It’s totally wishful thinking, but I’m trying to give them a way out. If they put up the white flag and call a truce, we can get back to football.”
