Everton could now sell stars for ‘bargain’ fees after new development – Sources

Everton are at major risk of losing key stars below their market value if they are relegated to the Championship or if their pending takeover falls through, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Sean Dyche’s side would be forced to sanction “bargain” deals for their best assets if they fail to remain in the Premier League.

The Toffees remain in financial disarray following their total eight-point deduction, registering £89.1million of losses on their latest accounts and the continued uncertainty around their pending takeover by American investment firm 777 Partners.

Their new potential owners, led by Josh Wander, were reportedly granted an extension on their outstanding debt to MSP Sports Capital, who have lent them £160million for running costs for the club.

Everton to lose key stars amid takeover woes and potential relegation

If this loan is not paid back by the start of next month, the club could go into the hands of MSP as the huge loan was secured against 51 per cent of owner Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent stake.

Meanwhile, the club remain just two points outside the relegation zone after their two points deductions and a string of poor results.

Dyche’s side have won just one Premier League game in their last 15 attempts – their 1-0 victory against Burnley earlier this month (6 April).

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (7 April) that Everton will demand up to £60million for midfield star Amadou Onana this summer – but this price could be cut if they face second-tier football next season.

Multiple other stars, including Jordan Pickford, James Garner and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, could also be on the chopping block in the off-season for cut-price fees.
