‘Everton could pull off huge coup by signing £100m star on loan’

Everton could pull off a huge coup signing in the January transfer window by bringing in Evan Ferguson.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson revealed that the 20-year-old would be a “great signing for anybody.”

The Merseyside giants have struggled for goals this season, with only Southampton scoring fewer than their 18 so far in the Premier League.

Football Insider revealed back in November that Ferguson is keen to leave Brighton as he is unhappy with his lack of game time, which is something that David Moyes could offer him in a loan move for the remainder of the campaign.

The Ireland international has only featured 12 times in the Premier League this season, with only two of those coming from the starting lineup.

Ferguson could act as a long-term replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin if the loan spell works out, as the England international’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of this season.

Everton could gain something special in Evan Ferguson

Ferguson would be a great signing for anybody,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“What was it, 12 months ago? We were talking figures of £80, 90, 100 million were being touted about for Evan Ferguson because of the quality that he’s got.

“There’s a lot of people with short memories in football and us even more so in the media unless you do your homework.

“But you look back it wasn’t long ago that we were putting big figures around the neck of Evan Ferguson.

“So, a loan move for him could be a huge coup for another team if they can get the best out of him.”
