Everton could seal 'incredible' Dumfries deal after reported update - pundit
Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Denzel Dumfries as Everton step up their pursuit of the PSV Eindhoven defender.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed the 25-year-old would be a “great” signing for Rafael Benitez’s side given his versatility and offensive ability.
Everton are in the market for a new right-back this summer as Seamus Coleman enters the final year of his contract at Goodison Park.
According to the Express, Benitez has given Marcel Brands the green light to bring in the right-back and a Football Insider source has updated to reveal a bid is expected.
Dumfries has two years remaining on his contract with the Dutch club.
The Toffees have made three significant additions to their squad already this week, with Andros Townsend, Demarai Gray and Asmir Begovic all signing contracts.

When asked for his thoughts on Dumfries, Robinson told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “He was one of the players of the tournament [Euros] for me.
“I thought he was incredible. The Netherlands played with a back three so he showed his attacking qualities as a wing-back. He was brilliant going forward but he can also defend. I thought he was their best player.
“He really surprised me. He had a good season for PSV last year but nobody expected him to do that well in the Euros.
“If Everton can pull that one off it would be great. He’s a really good player who can play in a back five or a back four. That versatility is very useful.”
