Everton could sell Jarrad Branthwaite after Friedkin takeover – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed The Friedkin Group could sell Jarrad Branthwaite to allow them to reinvest in the squad.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the Toffees will still be sailing “pretty close” to the £105million loss limit under Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Man United launched multiple bids for Branthwaite, 22, in the summer window but instead chose to sign Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (27 September) that United are lining up another bid for Everton’s star man in the January transfer window.

Branthwaite, who made his England debut earlier this year, is yet to play for the first team this season due to injury but made his return for the Under-21 side last week.

Branthwaite could leave Everton in early-window deal, says Wyness

Wyness claimed a sale could come before 30 June 2025, the deadline for Everton to submit their accounts for the current season.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It may have to be a complete re-jigging of the squad if Friedkin is going to invest.

“It may even mean that Jarrad Branthwaite, our prized player, could be sold before the 30th of June.

“I know we’ll be sailing pretty close to the £105million PSR limit at the end of this season.

“We’ve also got the second hearing over the stadium interest payments coming up, so there is plenty to deal with.”
