Everton could sell two stars as third points deduction on the cards – Borson
Everton may need to sell two of their star players this summer as they look to balance the books following their financial struggles.
That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Merseyside giants are likely to face another points deduction next season.
Everton were docked eight points last season after being charged by the Premier League for two separate profit and sustainability (PSR) breaches.
The Merseysiders are currently in dispute with the governing body regarding the status of certain costs associated with the building of their new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock and face a further independent committee hearing later this year.
Everton are also believed to be close to breaching the PSR rules again, with clubs only allowed to lose £105million over a three-year period.
Football Insider revealed last month Sean Dyche’s side will need to sell at least one of their “big” stars before they submit their accounts at the end of June.
Everton stars could be sold to ease financial concerns
Borson believes Everton are likely to lose their upcoming PSR battle, meaning a third points deduction is on the cards at Goodison Park.
“They will probably be able to find a way to get through the summer by selling players and maybe bringing forward some of the Premier League money,” Borson told Football Insider.
“They have at least one PSR case coming.
“They might win that, but the chances are they are going to have a points deduction of some sort next season.

“They are probably going to have to sell one or two of their best players.
“It’s a really complicated situation.”
